I’ve loved product design for as long as I can remember. When I finished high school, I seriously considered becoming an industrial designer. However, the only university I could afford at the time was not exactly appealing, to put it politely. On the other hand, I also liked technology and happened to be a really good coder. So I ended up studying software engineering and eventually landed in Barcelona as an iOS developer (a good one, I must say).
Unlicensed Chinese Carplays have been disrupting the market of motorcycle GPS navigators for the past two years. A quick search on Aliexpress easily reveals motorcycle Carplays available for as low as 60€.
In 2018, I moved to a new flat, and I set up my desktop computer next to the window. I’ve been working remotely – and alone – every single day for the past six years, so having an open window that provides views to the street and natural light boosts my mood more than any other thing.

Two years ago I was able to break the chains with the office. I became a fully remote worker and, instead of becoming a trendy digital nomad, I used my brand new flexibility to work from home.
For almost two years I had been wondering if it really made sense to travel while doing a good engineering job.
This is the story of my first experience working remotely from Thailand. Why and how I planned my trip and some learnings for the next time.
